CannaExpress is a specialty darknet marketplace that limits its catalogue to cannabis and cannabis-derived products. It opened in the mid-2020s and operates on Tor in English, accepting both Bitcoin and Monero.

Specialty markets are a structural feature of the post-Hydra ecosystem. The all-in-one Silk Road model — a single site with dozens of product categories — carries a correspondingly broad risk profile. A specialty platform reduces that risk and simplifies vendor curation.

Background

Public interest in cannabis-specific platforms rose over the 2010s as legal reform in parts of North America and in several European jurisdictions created a hybrid landscape in which the same substance was legal in one state and criminal in the next. A specialty market caters to buyers who are not interested in the broader catalogue of a general marketplace.

History

CannaExpress opened in the mid-2020s and grew by referral through cannabis-focused onion forums and discussion threads. It is referenced in EUROPOL and UNODC commentary on specialty-platform fragmentation. [1]

Design

Server-rendered HTML, v3 onion addresses, PGP wrapping of buyer–vendor messages and a plain feedback table. The absence of other product categories keeps the navigation simple.

Payment

Bitcoin and Monero are accepted. Classical escrow is the default; 2-of-3 multisig is available for higher-value orders.

Vendor policies

Only cannabis listings are permitted. The usual categories banned across the post-Bayonet cohort are also prohibited. Vendors must publish a PGP key before taking orders.

Legal context

The legal status of cannabis varies widely by jurisdiction: possession is lawful for recreational use in Canada, Uruguay and several U.S. states; it is lawful for medical use in many more jurisdictions; and it remains criminal in most of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. CannaExpress operates on Tor, which does not change the local legal status of a given sale: buyers remain subject to the law of the country of delivery.
