DrugHub Market is a darknet marketplace that opened in 2023 as an English-language Monero-only platform on Tor. It is one of several second-generation post-Hydra markets that explicitly narrow their listings to a smaller product scope than the broad, multi-category Silk Road–style model.
Specialisation of this kind — rather than the all-in-one supermarket approach — is one of the structural responses to the fragmented ecosystem that followed the Operation Bayonet era.
Background
In the aftermath of the April 2022 Hydra takedown, no single dominant successor emerged. Instead, the post-Hydra period has been characterised by many smaller platforms running in parallel, by greater use of invitation-only communities and by a measurable shift from Bitcoin to Monero. DrugHub, launched in this environment, took the Monero-only route from day one and limited its catalogue to a narrower scope.
History
The site opened in 2023. In 2024 it introduced an improved vendor-verification flow that required an active PGP key and a non-trivial bond; the change coincided with a reported drop in low-reputation vendor accounts. In 2025 the operators added a longer dispute window and migrated completely to v3 onion addresses. [1]
Design and interface
The interface is minimal, server-rendered and designed to work in Tor Browser at the Safest security level. Vendor pages carry a short policy, a feedback section and a plain listing table.
Payment
DrugHub is Monero-only. Classical escrow is the default: the market holds funds until the buyer finalises. Multisig is available for high-value orders but is less widely used, mirroring the broader Monero multisig adoption pattern described in Monero and privacy coins.
Vendor policies
The vendor policy prohibits categories common to post-Bayonet markets: firearms, services targeting unaffiliated individuals, counterfeit medical products and content whose production or distribution is criminal in essentially every jurisdiction. Vendors must register a PGP key before taking orders.
Security
Standard practice applies: verify the full 56-character onion address, maintain a recorded PGP fingerprint for the operators and the vendors you use, and run Tor Browser at Safest. See Phishing and clones for the common attacks and defences.
Reception
DrugHub is referenced in Chainalysis’ 2024 and 2025 Crypto Crime Report discussions of the Monero-only market cohort. [2] It has not been the subject of a dedicated academic study.
